ಮೆಟ್ರೋ ರೈಲು ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಹಲವು ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಂತರಿಕ ರೈಲು ಸಾರಿಗೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಹೆಸರು. "ಮೆಟ್ರೋ" ಪದ ಪ್ಯಾರಿಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿನ Chemin de fer métropolitain de Paris (ಪ್ಯಾರಿಸ್ ಮಹಾನಗರ ರೈಲು ಕಂಪನಿ) ಎಂಬುದರ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ರೂಪ.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಕತ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ನವ ದೆಹಲಿ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಜಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ. ಮುಂಬಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೆಲಸ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.
