ವಿಭೂತಿಪುರ ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನ

ಈ ಶಾಸನ ಕಲ್ಲು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ವಿಭೂತಿಪುರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವೀರಶೈವ ಮಠದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ.೧೩೦೭ನೇ ಇಸವಿಯ ಈ ಶಾಸನವು ತಮಿಳು ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಗ್ರಂಥ ಮತ್ತು ಅರವಕ್ಷರ ಲಿಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ವಂಶದ ಇಮ್ಮಡಿ ವೀರಬಲ್ಲಾಳ ರಾಜನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಗಾತ್ರ 3’ x 4’. ಆ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಊರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆರೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಂದಾಯ ಮನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡಿದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. . ಇದರಲ್ಲಿನ ಬರಹದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ ಅನುವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಬರೆಸಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಮಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಪಿಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಎಪಿಗ್ರಾಫಿಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಿಕ ಗ್ರಂಥ ಒಂಬತ್ತನೇ ಸಂಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ BN133 ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಡಿ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಶಾಸನದ ಪಠ್ಯ ಇಂತಿದೆ. ಅದೇ ಹೋಬಳಿ ವಿಭೂತಿಪುರ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಮಠದ ಜಮೀನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಟ್ಟ ಕಲ್ಲು

ಅರ್ಥ ವಿವರಣೆ

(From the year specified), for victory to the sword and arm of the pratapa-chakravattisri-Posala-vira-Vallala-Devar, and for the benefit of Vallapa-dennakkar, we the maha-prasayitta Ninran, the superintendent of the ? western portion of Masundi-nadu, Sembi-devar, Villa-gamundar and other (three named) inhabitants of the nadu, and Kovandai- Having cleared the jungle in the tract of land adjoining Peru-Erumur, ? leveled the ground, built a village, constructed a tank by removing the sand, and named the village Vachchidevarpuram, granted to Vacchi-devar the village and the wet and dry lands adjoining it, with their four boundaries, as a madappuram, exempt from taxes, for as long as the moon and the sun exist.
