ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲು

ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲು ಎಂದರೆ ಒಂದು ರಸ್ತೆ ಅಥವಾ ಗಡಿಯ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ, ಒಂದು ಮೈಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಒಂದು ಮೈಲಿಯ ಭಾಗಗಳ ಅಂತರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಿರುವ ಅನೇಕ ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು. ಇವನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ನಡುವಿನ ಅಥವಾ ಮಧ್ಯದ ಮೀಸಲು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇವನ್ನು ಪರ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ಮೈಲಿಕಂಬಗಳು ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೈಲಿ ದೂರ ಎಂದರೆ ಒಂದು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಆರಂಭದ ಬಿಂದುವಿನಿಂದ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಉದ್ದಕ್ಕಿರುವ ದೂರ. ಸಾಧಾರಣವಾಗಿ "ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲು" ಪದವು ಇತರ ದೂರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಲಾದ ಸೂಚಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಸೂಚಿಸಬಹುದು, ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿದ್ದು.
