* ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಆಳರಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ. ಕ್ರಿ. ಶ. ೧೭೫೦, ನವೆಂಬರ್ ೨೦ರಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಬಳಿಯ ದೇವನಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ. ಕೇವಲ ೪೯ ವರ್ಷ ಬದುಕಿದ ಅವನ ಶೌರ್ಯ, ಬಲಿದಾನ, ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನ ಕುರಿತು ಕತೆಗಳೇ ಇವೆ. ಯುದ್ಧದ ನಾನಾ ಕಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಷ್ಣಾತರಾದ ಕುಟುಂಬದಿಂದ ಬಂದವ ಟಿಪ್ಪು. ಅಸಮರ್ಥ ಹಾಗೂ ಅದಕ್ಷ ಮೈಸೂರರಸನನ್ನು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿಸಿ, ತಾನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಮಹಮದರ ಕುರೇಶಿ ಪಂಗಡದವನೆಂದು ಸಾರಿ ರಾಜನಾದ ಹೈದರಾಲಿಯ ಮಗ.
* ಅನಕ್ಷರಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹೈದರಾಲಿ ಮಗ ಟಿಪ್ಪುವಿಗೆ ಸಣ್ಣಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಸಕಲ ವಿದ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಿದ. ಉರ್ದು, ಪರ್ಷಿಯನ್, ಕನ್ನಡ, ಅರೇಬಿಕ್, ಕುರಾನ್, ಇಸ್ಲಾಮೀ ನ್ಯಾಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಕುದುರೆ ಸವಾರಿ, ತೋಪು ಚಲಾಯಿಸುವುದು ಮುಂತಾದವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಕಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಹಲವು ಪರಿಣತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿದ ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಹೊಸ ಮೂಲೂದಿ ಇಸ್ಲಾಮಿ ಪಂಚಾಂಗ ದಿನಗಣನೆಯನ್ನು ಚಾಲ್ತಿಗೆ ತಂದ.
