Attributed to Haines, No date of death for photographer Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:13, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

  • Haines cannot be identified. I am unable to find a reference on either Google or standard reference sources. Search of NPG website has no listing [೧] Therefore is PD in the UK. Jack1956 (talk) 11:00, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
  • If a photo is attributed to a named person, the author is always "known" (unless the attribution is incorrect), even if you just have something incomplete such as "Haines", "John" or "Peter". The copyright expires in the UK 70 years after the death of Haines. Unfortunately, the year of death of Haines is unknown, so we don't know for how long he has been dead. However, Wikipedia is hosted in the United States, not the United Kingdom. It says that this is a postcard, and it also says that the photo was taken in 1904. This means that there is a fair chance that it was published before 1923, in which case {{PD-US-1923-abroad}} applies. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:38, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your input, Stefan2. I will change the tag to that on the similar images. Jack1956 (talk) 11:17, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Keep - I agree with Stefan2: Since it was published before 1923, it is eligible for the {{PD-US-1923-abroad}} license. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:09, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Kept - PD-UK tag removed, PD-US-1923-abroad substituted. No Votes for deletion.PD-UK can be reinstated without prejudice if further confirmation provided.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:38, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Is this 1920 or 1926?, If the latter PD-US-1923-abroad can't be applied? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:48, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Claimed as 1904 image, but publication is 2000, further information needed for date confirmation and status. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:46, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

  • Original image published in the Journal of the 11th Hussars in the section 'New Troopers' in 1904. Copied from that for the 2000 publication. Jack1956 (talk) 13:53, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Does the original list a photographer? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:00, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
No, presumably an anonymous regimental photographer. Jack1956 (talk) 14:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
