ವಾಜಪ್ಪಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾ ಶಿವ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ
ವಾಜಪ್ಪಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾ ಶಿವ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ (ಮಲಯಾಳಂ: വാഴപ്പള്ളി മഹാശിവക്ഷേത്രം) ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವಾಲಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಭಾರತದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಕೇರಳದ ಕೊಟ್ಟಾಯಂ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಚಂಗನಸ್ಸೆರಿ ಬಳಿಯ ವಾಜಪ್ಪಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ತಿರುವಾಂಕೂರು ದೇವಸ್ವಂ ಮಂಡಳಿಯು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.[೧] ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುಂಗಲ್ಲೂರಿನ ಮೊದಲ ಚೇರ ರಾಜ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದನೆಂದು ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಹಾದೇವ (ಶಿವ) ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಪರಶುರಾಮನು ಸ್ವತಃ ಮಾಡಿದನೆಂದು ದಂತಕಥೆಗಳು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.[೨][೩] ಪರಶುರಾಮ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ 108 ಶಿವ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವೂ ಒಂದು.[೪] ಕೇರಳದ ಎರಡು ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಎರಡು ನಳಂಬಳಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಎರಡು ಧ್ವಜ-ಮಾಸ್ಟ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.[೫] ಗ್ರಾಮ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವಾದ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಹದಿನೇಳನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಕೆಲವು ಮರದ ಕೆತ್ತನೆಗಳನ್ನು (ದಾರು ಸಿಲ್ಪಾಸ್) ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೊಲ್ಲಂ ಯುಗ 840 (ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. 1665) ನಲ್ಲಿ ರಿಪೇರಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ತಳಭಾಗದ ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಟ್ಟೆ ಟ್ಟು ಶಾಸನವೊಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
