*[[ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರ]]ದ ಘೋಷಿಸಲ್ಪಡದ ಕಪ್ಪು ಹಣ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು, ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕಪ್ಪು ಹಣ ಎದುರಿಸಲು, ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವಾಗಿ, 8 ನವೆಂಬರ್ 2016 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೇ ದಿನದ 'ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ಜಾರಿಗೆಬರುವಂತೆ, ರೂ.500 ಮತ್ತು ರೂ.1000 ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ನೋಟುಗಳು ಅಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ' ಎಂದು ಅನಾಣ್ಯೀಕರಣ ಘೋಷಿಸಿತು. ನಿಗದಿತ ಉದ್ದೇಶ: ನಕಲಿ ಕರೆನ್ಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರ ತೊಡೆದುಹಾಕಲು(ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದನೆಯ ಹಣಕಾಸು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ). ರೂ.500 ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ನೊಟನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಮರುವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು; ಜೊತೆಗೆ ದಿ.10 ನವೆಂಬರ್ 2016 ರಿಂದ ಹೊಸ ಸರಣಿ,ರೂ.2000 ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ನೊಟನ್ನು ಚಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ಕೊಡಲಾಯಿತು.<ref>[https://rbi.org.in/Scripts/BS_PressReleaseDisplay.aspx?prid=38520 (Press Release)]</ref>
