[[ಸುಗ್ರೀವ]]ನು ಇವನ ತಮ್ಮ. ವಾಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಗ್ರೀವರು ಒಬ್ಬಳೇ ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು. ಮತ್ತು ಅಸಾಧಾರಣವಾದ ರೂಪ ಸಾದರ್ಶವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದವರು. ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಲಿಯು ಹಿರಿಯವನು. ವಾಲಿಯು ಶಿವನಿಂದ ವರಪಡೆದು ಮಹಾ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಿಯಾದವನು. ಇದರ ಪರಿಣಾಮವಾಗಿ ಇವನೆದುರುನಿಂತ ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮವಾದ ಬಲವು ಈತನಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿಯಾಗಿ ಲಭಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಈತನು ಅಜೇಯನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.ಇವನ ಮಡದಿ [[ತಾರಾ]]. ಸಹೋದರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ಭೇದಭಾವವು ವಾಲಿಯನ್ನು ರಾಮನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪರ್ಯಾವಸಾನವಾಯಿತು.
